About Wayne Carter

Wayne Carter is a businessman, a leader, a father, and a believer in the future of the Louisiana agriculture economy. Wayne is a successful owner of Advanced Systems, a company he started in 1980 that buys and sells offshore drilling equipment. He is a member of Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, Pride Farm Club, and Farm Bureau.

In East Baton Rouge Parish, Wayne Carter is a two-term leader on the Metro Council, Chairman of the Finance and Executive Committee, and a Board Member of the Baton Rouge Convention and Visitors Bureau. Wayne is also a member of the Zachary Chamber of Commerce and is active in the Zachary Relay for Life.

However, Wayne Carter's life story didn't begin as a successful businessman or civic leader. Growing up in North Louisiana, Wayne was one of fourteen siblings on a family farm and started out working in the logging business in Grant Parish. Wayne began riding bulls to finance his college education. With determination, and a few broken bones, Wayne earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University.

For over 28 years, Wayne Carter has been happily married to Cheryl Babson Carter, a retired school teacher. They have two daughters, Clacey and Kalyn. Wayne and his family are members of Zachary First Baptist Church where Wayne is a former Sunday School teacher and serves as an Usher.

Wayne Carter and his family enjoy the sportsman's paradise. They are avid hunters and outdoorsmen and Wayne is a member of NRA and Ducks Unlimited. Wayne is also a host of the Chris Shivers Invitational Bullriding Championship.
